Former Lagrange High School legend and University of Alabama quarterback Vince Sutton passed away Thursday morning. Vince Sutton was 51. Sutton had been in declining health from diabetes, suffering two strokes in recent years and partial blindness. Sutton was the number one overall recruit in 1983, where he threw 30 touchdown passes his senior year and led the Grangers to the state championship game and signed with The University of Alabama. While at The University of Alabama, the LaGrange (Ga.) High School product started five games behind center in 1984 and ended his playing career with 1,102 passing yards and 10 touchdowns (1984-88). There reaches a point, after an arduous journey, when we lay down the sword and shield and surrender the fight. Such it was with former Lagrange and Alabama quarterback Vince Sutton.
