On Monday, the Alpha Kappa Alpha of Lanett, and the Lambda Zeta Omega chapter hosted their annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast, and Unity Day of Prayer virtually.

Those in attendance and guest speakers for the event included Pastor and City of Valley Councilman Henry Cooper, Pastor and Lagrange Councilman Willie T. Edmondson, Lanett Mayor Kyle McCoy, and West Point Mayor Steve Tramell.

“We always strive to include all of our communities for this event, and I’m really proud of the fact that we were able to achieve representation from all of the area. Obviously, with the COVID-19 numbers continuing to rise, we felt that we needed to be safe and hold the prayer and breakfast virtually”, said Alpha Kappa Sorority sister, and West Point Councilwoman Sandra Thornton.

The event was broadcast on YouTube, on Facebook on Narfunda Ross page, who is the owner of 1033 Photography, and on Bee TV.

The theme for this year’s breakfast and prayer is “Troubled Times”.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha and the Lambda Zeta Omega chapter have hosted the Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast, and Unity Day of Prayer for many years, and could not be more relevant than it is in 2021.
